What is the difference between the Gold ETF and Gold Savings Mutual Fund?

# Little Savings

The major difference between the Gold ETF and Gold Savings Mutual Fund is the way of buying a gold. In Gold ETF, one will buy the physical gold online in units but the Gold Savings Mutual Fund invests in Gold ETF's.

It looks the same but with the ETF's you are buying the gold and in the Gold Savings funds, we are putting money and can convert to liquid. While the ETF's need a DEMAT account, most people choose to invest in the Gold Savings Mutual Fund.

Since SIP available only in the Gold Savings Mutual Fund, it is one of the reason to chose rather than ETF's.

But, If you compare the prices of ETF's and Gold Savings Fund, the latter will be bit costly due to maintaining your assets.
